Festival Statement - The Wedgewood Rooms, Tom Bryan Show and Summer Festival

The Wedgewood Rooms As recently as February 2020, we released an article about the home of the Portsmouth music scene, The Wedgewood Rooms, and about how Independent Music Venue Week is a fantastic campaign that serves to increase media exposure of the venue. However, this campaign only runs for one week during the entire year and essentially, as a collective, we should do more to ensure independent music venues do not close or face the threat of closure.

Yesterday, due to what is happening in the world, this iconic music venue has had no other option than to pause further shows for the foreseeable future until more certainty surrounding Covid-19 is established. Not only will this impact devoted gig attendees, bands, and external promoters but it will also undoubtedly have a monumental effect on the management & staff, many of whom depend on their income to pay their bills and feed their families.

We, as a team, will do our very best to assist in ensuring that this suspension is only temporary and that when the doors re-open again, the venue is stronger and more relevant than ever.

We need it, you need it!

Tom Bryan Show

Unfortunately, our show on Saturday 4th April featuring Tom Bryan, Alice Milburn and St Dunstan has been postponed. A revised date will be released in the near future and our proposed show with Sidetracked will be rescheduled as well.

Icebreaker Festival Summer 2020

At this stage, we have no plans to cancel or postpone our summer festival on Saturday 18th July 2020. We remain positive and hopeful that following this unnerving and difficult time for ALL of our venues, suppliers and performers, we can still host our debut summer event which will be very much needed to begin the rebuild for everyone who is currently affected. We are currently discussing ways that as business, we can support our community throughout the spring and beyond and with that in mind, more announcements will be made in due course.

Look after each other, wash your hands, and support our local community.
